Van life is all about finding new adventures and making your home on the road as comfortable as possible. We had neglected our van bedroom, and now is the time to give it the makeover it deserves. In this blog post, we’ll share our experience of transforming our van bedroom into a cozy and inviting space.

A Fresh Coat of Paint
The first step was to give the van bedroom a fresh coat of paint. We went for Delux Diamond Hard satin, but found that the white color was too harsh for the space. Our solution was to mix in some other colors to create a softer look. This is a great example of how creativity and experimentation can lead to unexpected and pleasing results.
Upcycling a Headboard
Next up, we scoured Facebook Marketplace for something to use as a headboard for our double bed. We found a King Size headboard and decided to upcycle it to fit the space. Cutting it up and making it look good was a challenge, but the end result was worth it.
We even managed to make a smaller headboard for the bunk area.

Soft and Inviting Lighting
Lighting is an important element in any space, and it’s especially important in a van bedroom where you want to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We upgraded our lighting by converting some battery LED fairy lights to run on our 12v system. We chose three different designs to add some interest to the space.

Making it Special
When transforming our van bedroom, we found it important to make it special and personal. We wanted to make the bunk area special for our daughter, who loves cats. We found a great cat-themed item in a charity shop that made a perfect finishing touch. Who else loves a charity shop find?

The Final Result

In the end, we think the finished article was a success. The van bedroom was transformed from a neglected and bland space into a cozy and inviting retreat.
With some creativity, experimentation, and attention to detail, but what do you think? Did we hit the brief?
